Introduzione: la gestione ottimale della ventilazione meccanica e dello svezzamento richiede un processo decisionale dinamico e collaborativo per ridurre al minimo le complicanze ed evitare ritardi nell’estubazione. In assenza di collaborazione il processo di ventilazione può essere frammentato, incoerente e ritardato con un aumento della mortalità. Gli esiti dello svezzamento e della durata della
ventilazione meccanica sono positivamente influenzati dalla crescente partecipazione degli infermieri.
