Introduzione: il delirium è una sindrome clinica caratterizzata da transitoria e reversibile confusione mentale che si associa ad un importante disorientamento spazio-temporale, inattenzione e pensiero disorganizzato. Il delirium è frequente tra i pazienti ricoverati in Terapia Intensiva (ICU delirium) con un’incidenza compresa tra l’11% e l’80% a seconda delle popolazioni di pazienti critici studiate ed è associato ad un peggiora- mento degli outcome.
