La Nutrizione Enterale (NE) è una tipologia di alimentazione artificiale comunemente usata nei pazienti critici ricoveratinelle Unità di Terapia Intensiva (UTI), in grado di garantire un’adeguata nutrizione e sostenere uno stato di salute ottimale, qualora sia andato perduto. La criticità del paziente porta ad un particolare assetto ormonale che determina un elevato catabolismo andando incontro al rischio di sviluppare malnutrizione calorica.
