Since the beginning of the SARS-COV2 pandemic, Italian intensive care units have been put under great strain and have had to rethink their staffing and equipment. The nursing workload in intensive care units dedicated to COVID-19 positive patients has undergone major changes compared to the pre-emergency situation. No study has been conducted so far on the nursing workload in COVID-free ICUs during the onset of the SARS pandemic COV-2. The aim of this work was therefore to describe the variation in nursing workload in a COVID-free ICU of a public hospital in Milan.
