Violence or aggression towards nurses in the workplace is an extremely common occurrence, especially in critical and emergency hospital areas. In recent years, the problem also seems to have emerged in other realities, intra- and extra-hospital, making the phenomenon increasingly the order of the day. There are many studies that identify the important physical, psycho-social and economic consequences for the individuals and institutions affected by this phenomenon, but the study and prevention of violence ranks high on the agendas of organisations and agencies for the safety of workers and international associations of health professionals.
