Introduction:Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is used as the therapy of choice for the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism in both hospital and home settings. One of the most frequent complications of LMWH administration is the appearance of ecchymosis, an event that produces discomfort and concern in the patient. Although LMWH injections are very common, the most effective technique for preventing ecchymosis is not yet clearly documented.
