Introduction: in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, monitoring the organisational well-being of healthcare workers is a priority. Emotional overload, mental and physical ill-health, exhausting shifts and management shortcomings were the main challenges faced.
Materials and Methods: a literature review was performed and articles were selected from databases and database collections (Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Cinhal, Scopus) following the PICOM method. Twenty-six full-text articles that matched the review objectives were analysed.
Results: Psychological overload, stress, anxiety, depression could be detected in the articles selected after consultation.
Discussion: the results indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the mental well-being of healthcare workers. Different strategies have been proposed in the literature to improve the well-being of healthcare workers: workload management, implementation of psychological support services, adoption of self-care measures.
Conclusions: implement targeted strategies and interventions to mitigate negative impacts on the well-being and satisfaction of health personnel. The organisational well-being of staff is a key aspect in ensuring the quality of care and health provided, as well as of the staff themselves.
