Introduzione: il fissaggio esterno dei cateteri vescicali (CV) è una pratica assistenziale che spesso viene trascurata, ciò comporta un aumento degli eventi avversi legati al CV.

Scopo: descrivere l’efficacia dei sistemi di fissaggio esterno del CV a permanenza nei pazienti adulti ricoverati in ospedale.

Materiali e Metodi: è stata condotta una revisione narrativa della letteratura sui sistemi di fissaggio esterno del CV a permanenza tra Aprile e Agosto 2023. Sono state consultate le seguenti banche dati: PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus e Web of Science.

Risultati: il processo di selelzione ha incluso 5 record dei 310 individuati dalle query. Tre articoli analizzavano il movimento di trazione del CV, 2 articoli il comfort e la dislocazione, mentre, 1 solo articoli analizzava l’infezione da CV e l’erosione del meato uretrale. L’utilizzo degli StatLock® ha riportato una minore incidenza di infezione [catetere transureterale (7/40, 18,5% vs 12/41, 29%) o un catetere sovrapubico (1/20, 5% vs 2/17, 11,8%)], una riduzione della dislocazione, dell’erosione del meato uretrale e della trazione del CV.

Discussione: l’utilizzo del corretto sistema di fissaggio esterno dei CV è un’area ancora poco indagata, ma emergono risultati incoraggianti, in relazione all’impiego del corretto sistema di fissaggio esterno, nei confronti delle infezioni del tratto urinario.
