Introduzione: la malattia coronarica (CAD) è un grande problema di salute pubblica in tutto il mondo e la sua incidenza è in aumento, soprattutto nei Paesi in via di sviluppo. La terapia farmacologica e la tecnologia invasiva per l’angina pectoris sono migliorate notevolmente negli ultimi due decenni. Una di queste tecnologie per la rivascolarizzazione miocardica è l’intervento coronarico percutaneo (PCI): un palloncino viene gonfiato nell’arteria coronaria per dilatare la stenosi e, comunemente, viene impiantato uno stent.
