Monitoring and improving sleep quality in intensive care: a literature review
The majority of patients admitted to intensive care units report a reduction in sleep quality during the hospital stay. Sleep deprivation has serious repercussions on the person's clinical outcome, delaying discharge time and increasing the risk of complications. Despite the fact that this issue is widely reported in critical care wards, awareness of it is still minimal.
