Hospitalized patients are at risk for serious adverse events, but early recognition of clinical instability can be difficult. Nurses are among the professionals with the best skills to detect signs of clinical instability early, and the Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) is a useful tool to support professionals at this stage. There is currently no Italian version of the MEWS. The purpose of the study is to translate and adapt for the Italian context the MEWS through the process of forward and backward translation, verification of face and content validity, and through the development of a single-center study.
